Nikes N’ Roses

September 8, 2011

I guess you all know already that Nike SB has a real big fascination towards rock and metal classics like Mötley Crüe and Guns N´Roses, releasing series of shoes, shirts and even tour jackets remenessing the golden “hard rock era” of the eighties. Unlike Vans and some others labels, Nike uses different approach for re-inventing the style. As Vans has licence to use artists album covers, logos and has more of a collab looks to the items, Nike tries to use the colour schemes, materials and some references. Various members of those bands like for instance Slash and Tommy Lee have equally worn nike sneakers in their past, making this tribute even more appropriate and connected to their past image.

Some examples:

Nike SB Tour Jacket and Nike Dunk shoes based by thes colours and gradients from the 28-million selling GN´R debut album “Appetite For Destruction” (1987).

Nike SB shirt called “Shattered Rose”.

Nike SB Dunk Mid inspired by the GN´R song and video “November Rain”.

Nike celebrated 20-years of Mötley Crüe´s release “Dr. Feelgood” by these snakey lookin´ Dunk Hi-Pros.

Boys rocking the Nikes:

Duff and Slash circa 1988
